Summertime

Summertime

It is officially SUMMER!

The word summer means different things to different people.

For kids summer may mean playing outside all day, going to the park or beach, playing in a sprinkler, having a picnic and making homemade snow cones.

As a parent summer can mean something completely different. As temperatures begin to rise, so do the worries and concerns. It can mean sky high electric bills, higher water costs, extra daycare fees and more household bills. For some families, access to food can mean the difference between a happy summer and a hungry summer.

Summertime should not be hungry times, but about 50,000 Galveston County residents do struggle with food insecurity.

You can help make sure a family does not go without a meal. A donation as little as $1 can provide up to 4 meals.
