The Galveston County Food Bank is seeking highly skilled and self motivated individual to join our driving team.

Class A CDL Driver will maintain warehouse products for storage and distribution following all guidelines. Position will be required to load and unload products to or from warehouse via commercial trucks and trailers, vans and operation of all warehouse equipment. Position will operate Food Bank vehicles for retail donation pickups. Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Class A CDL with acceptable driving record
  • Minimum of 1 years Driving Experience
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment and safe driving procedures
  • Diligent attention to safety
  • Ability to frequently stand, kneel, crouch, walk, stoop and climb.
  • Ability to work in extreme climate, heat and cold.
  • Electric pallet jack experience preferred
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Forklift certification a plus! (on-site certification must be completed shortly after starting job)
  • Flexible schedule; occasional Saturdays and evenings required.

The GCFB Associate will assist the Galveston County Food Bank pantry and front desk. He or she will be responsible for maintaining an excellent level of customer service. Work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends.   • High School Diploma or equivalent

Job Responsibilities:

  • Back up for front desk receptionist
  • Work in pantry for distribution of product to clients
  • Oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of pantry on a daily basis
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator on projects as with the dry and frozen food sorts as needed
  • Communicate and work with warehouse and administrative staff
  • Outgoing personality for a high energy position in the community
  • Ability to make decisions and problem solve in real time
  • Written and verbal fluency in Spanish desired
  • Electric pallet jack and forklift experience desired
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 50 lbs
  • Clean background and random drug testing required

Pay: $10.00 – $12.00 per hour

The Nutrition Educator will report to the Nutrition Manager and work as a member of the Nutrition Education Team under a Feeding Texas grant. He or she will be responsible for implementation of nutrition initiatives in corner stores and farmers’ markets throughout Galveston County. This is a brand-new project under the Feeding Texas Network, requiring innovation and strategic planning.

 

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition required.
  • Experience Requirement:
  • Strong interpersonal, communications (both written and oral), organizational and strategic planning skills;
  • Strong relationship-building skills are a MUST;
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, Access & other similar programs;
  • Willingness to embrace cultural competency in working with a diverse set of clients;
  • Experience in public health and/or community nutrition and nutrition education, including creating age appropriate materials and programming preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred

 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, bend and lift while at food bank and at agency partner locations;
  • Operating small warehouse equipment, climbing ladders, and other warehouse activities may be required at times, but training can be provided;
  • Employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work out of an open truck or delivery vehicle.

 

Working Environment:

  • The work environment includes office areas as well as warehouse facilities and off-site locations.

Compensation: $24/hrs

Full Time:  40 hours per week
